A Message from the SCGA
The year is quickly coming to a close and we are fast approaching our launch with GHIN as our handicap provider. A few important reminders for the next two weeks:
- No electronic forms of score posting will be available for any golfers in Southern California from December 22 - January 4. This includes posting scores at golf course facilities as well as online score posting.
- You will need to contact your golf club on how to record scores during this time period.
- The January 1 Handicap Index verification will be available under the current format on December 30 and 31 only. Once the conversion is complete you will then be able to access your score file via the SCGA Web site again after January 4.
- Our target launch date to resume score posting is Monday, January 4. We will keep you updated with any changes via email.
- Once score posting has resumed in January, you will have a new seven-digit SCGA membership number. For the vast majority of you, it will mean placing a "9" in front of your current SCGA membership number. For a small percentage of golfers you may be receiving a brand new SCGA number because your number is already being used in the GHIN system. We will notify you by email or post card if you will have a brand new number.
- When the conversion is completed you will be able to verify your Handicap Index as well as post scores online (if authorized by your club) via the SCGA Web site.
- Beginning January 15 the Handicap Index will be updated on a semi-monthly basis: the 1st and 15th of the month. All scores transmitted by 9 p.m. on the 14th and last day of the month will be used to calculate the follow morning's Handicap Index.

- Why is my member number not working?
If you have purchased the handicap portion of the membership after the 21st of every month, you must wait until the beginning of the following month in order to start posting your scores. For instance, if you purchased the handicap on April 22nd, you must wait until June 1st in order to start posting your scores. Also, make sure you are not using your Birdie Savings Card number when posting; you must use your golf association number, which is different.
- When do I receive my handicap membership card?
SCGA Members - Your SCGA card is shipped directly from the golf association and it is sent to the store you purchased your membership from (if purchased online, the store you selected). Depending on when you purchased your membership, the SCGA cards are usually received the second week of every month.
AGA Members - Your AGA card is shipped directly to your address approximately 2-3 weeks after your purchase.
NCGA Members - Your NCGA card is shipped directly to your address approximately 2-3 weeks after your purchase. If you are renewing, you will NOT receive another card, use the one you have.
HSGA Members - We will mail the first card to you. Then you may pick-up your monthly updated card at the store that you signed-up in.
- How do I know what club I belong to?
Your club is designated based on the location of your purchase. For instance, if you purchased from Roger Dunn Golf Shops Santa Ana,
your club is considered ‘Roger Dunn Santa Ana.’
- How do I find out my membership number?

- How do I post a score?
The easiest and quickest way to post ALL of your backdated scores is online. See instructions below:
