This year’s Summer Commemorative Staff Bag honors our nation’s championship with red, white and blue colorways throughout. Vintage TaylorMade logos, references to our first metal wood – the Pittsburgh Persimmon™ – and nods to the host venue announce themselves as well.
TaylorMade’s first ever metal wood was called the Pittsburgh Persimmon, offering a nod to the Steel City and host of this year’s tournament. Much of the Summer Commemorative Staff Bag’s inspiration was derived from this iconic club and is reflected in a steel-grey base color, vintage TaylorMade logos, direct references to the club, and TaylorMade’s founding year of 1979.
While the Summer Commemorative Staff Bag stands out from afar, there are some subtler details that are not to be overlooked. ‘Pittsburgh Persimmon’ is scripted into the topside valuables pocket and the carry strap where it reminds us of TaylorMade’s first metal wood. ‘Original One’, another moniker for the first metal wood, is bordered by the year 1979 marking TaylorMade’s founding year on the lower of the two backside valuables pockets. On the Staff Bag’s bottom collar, the years 1927, 1935, 1953, 1962, 1973, 1983, 1994, 2007, 2016 and 2025 mark each year the host venue has staged the Summer Commemorative. Stitching on the handle honors the host venue’s church pew-lined bunkers.
