In 2017, Ping unveiled its G400 driver in a variety of different models, all of which fell slightly under the max CC of a USGA conforming club at 445cc. The G400 line consisted of three different models. A standard model, a fade-biased model in the LS Tec and a draw biased model in the SF Tec. But another model is being added to the family in the all-new G400 Max.
The new Ping G400 Max driver is a great fit for players looking for added distance, improved stability, and ultimate forgiveness on off-center hits. Ping was able to push the limits with the G400 Max, giving it the highest total MOI ever in a Ping driver. In simpler terms, the new Max driver is longer and straighter than any club from Ping. The function of extreme tungsten and a higher-density backweight in G400 Max give this club ultimate forgiveness and a larger sweet spot packed into a 460cc driver.
With a deeper profile and 460cc head, the G400 Max, like the standard G400 drivers, are built with Dragonfly Technology to thin the crown and position the CG lower to maximize the MOI and forgiveness. Standing over the club you will notice the textured crown and infinity edge, a clean look that instills the utmost confidence when you’re ready to swing away and crush it down the fairway.
A combined MOI over 9,000 and the deepest CG ever in a Ping driver gives the G400 Max extremely tight dispersion. The T9S+forged face of the club is designed to increase the face flex, improve feel, creating a powerful sound and produce hotter ball speeds across the entire face of the club. To complement the improved face flex, the G400 Max has a relocated weight to help create a deeper CG and elevate the MOI and launch angle. Lastly, the textured face increases friction between the club and ball, reducing spin.
The G400 Max sports a sleek, highly aerodynamic speed-inducing shape. The domed crown combines with bolder turbulators to reduce drag and generate significant clubhead speed and ball velocity for ensuring distance with stability. The new G400 Max Driver is a must try for golfers out there looking for added distance and improved consistency off the tee.
