Who amongst us doesn’t want to play a tour-quality golf ball? But sometimes, the price of a premium product can seem a little steep. So we seek out more middle-of-the-road options – such as the recently revamped Q-Star all from Srixon.

the new Q-Star is a two-piece ball that features a lower-compression Energetic Gradient Growth core. According to company officials, that component uses variable stiffness to deliver better feel and distance.

The ball also employs a third-generation Spin Skin Coating, which they aver is more elastic with fewer bonding points and designed to produce more consistent spin, even when hit out of the rough.

Then there is the 338 Speed Dimple Pattern that is made to reduce drag for better penetration through the air and be easier to control in the wind.
