When a driver feels too bold and a fairway wood just won’t cut it, there’s a club designed for that middle ground – and it’s having a serious moment. Mini drivers are quickly becoming the go-to choice for golfers looking for distance, control, and versatility in one sleek package. Worldwide Golf is helping lead the charge with the latest releases from TaylorMade, Titleist, and Callaway, each bringing something unique to the tee box.
A Throwback with a Twist: TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Driver
TaylorMade is tapping into its roots with the new R7 Quad Mini Driver – a modern reimagining of one of its most successful drivers ever. Inspired by the 2004 R7 that helped reshape how golfers think about adjustability, this updated version brings back the iconic Movable Weight Technology, now in a compact 305cc head.
The R7 Quad Mini’s quad-weight system (two 13g and two 4g weights) lets players fine-tune spin and trajectory with a simple shift in setup. Positioning more mass forward delivers a lower, more piercing flight, while a rear-weighted configuration adds forgiveness and height. Paired with an Infinity Carbon Crown, Twist Face, and Speed Pocket, the club delivers on both customization and performance, whether you’re looking to hit it low and long or straight and steady.
Classic looks round out the package, with retro color accents and a throwback head cover to TaylorMade’s early 2000s swagger.
Bridging the Gap: Titleist GT280 Mini Driver
Designed with precision in mind, the Titleist GT280 Mini Driver is built for situations where accuracy matters just as much as distance. At 280cc with a shorter 43.5-inch shaft, the club delivers yardage off the tee with more control – especially when the fairway gets tight or the wind picks up.
Designed with a Seamless Thermoform Crown for better weight distribution, the GT280 brings the speed and stability of a driver with the playability of a fairway metal. It also features forward and rear CG adjustability, letting players dial in their ball flight based on preference – lower spin and flatter launch when the weight is forward, or more carry and forgiveness when it’s in the back.
Unlike traditional drivers used off the tee, the GT280 was also designed with turf interaction in mind. A reshaped leading edge and sole make it easier to hit from the fairway, and the forged L-Cup face helps maintain speed on low-face strikes.
Built for Speed: Callaway Elyte Mini Driver
Callaway’s new Elyte Mini Driver is all about speed, control, and style. With a larger 340cc head, it delivers a more forgiving profile while still keeping a compact shape. It’s available in both 11.5° and 13.5° lofts and comes in right- and left-handed models – including a model for women.
The Elyte Mini stands out for its futuristic design elements. Featuring a reshaped head engineered to optimize aerodynamics, it promotes faster swing speeds, while the Thermoforged Carbon crown (an aerospace-grade composite) helps redistribute weight for better launch and forgiveness.
At the core of the design, Callaway’s most advanced Ai face to date – the Ai10x – features ten times the control points of past iterations. That translates to more consistent distance, tighter dispersion, and optimized launch angles, no matter where you strike the ball on the face. Golfers can also adjust ball flight with neutral, fade, and draw settings.
Why Mini Drivers Are Catching On
There’s a reason mini drivers are showing up more often on Tour and in weekend foursomes. They bring control and workability in situations where traditional drivers may be too much and fairway woods not quite enough. Whether you’re looking to add a second option off the tee, navigate tighter fairways, or replace a 3-wood with something more dynamic, mini drivers offer a new kind of workability.
And with options from TaylorMade, Titleist, and Callaway now available at Worldwide Golf, there’s never been a better time to try one.
