Driver vs. Driver 2 – Episode 6 – The Designers See the Stars in Tahoe

Driver vs. Driver presented by Wilson Golf is back for its second rendition! 14 finalists battle it out with the hopes of ultimately becoming Wilson Golf’s next world-class driver in 2019. Driver vs. Driver 2 follows the trials and tribulations of aspiring golf equipment designers in an elimination-style television series where they will compete for the opportunity have their concepts transformed into prototypes, field tested, critiqued and refined. Ultimately, one driver concept will be left standing, with the designer winning $250,000 and the final driver hitting retail stores worldwide.

Out of the hundreds of concepts submitted through an open call application process, 14 finalists were selected. In episode 1, we saw 16 designers meet their competition and the judges. Three designers missed the cut. In episode 2, we saw some designers team up while others were sent home. The newly formed team, the Black Hornets made the cut, while Tim Swiss was sent home.

In episode 3, titanium prototypes were made of each driver and they were tested by Wilson Tour pros Kevin Streelman, Ricky Barnes, Brendan Steele, and Troy Merritt. After testing, one design missed the cut, the Black Hornet. In Episode 4, the remaining designers tested out their designs at PGA Show Demo Day. After testing out their product with Golf Labs, golf professionals and consumers at the PGA Demo Day hit a few shots and tested the clubs. Ultimately, the design that missed the cut was Dial Shot and its creator Allen Zadeh. Episode 5 saw a number of social influencers testing out the 4 remaining drivers. At the end of the day, Jeremy Chell and The Launch Pad missed the cut. See episode 5 recap below:

Throughout the series, the finalists’ concepts will be field tested and critiqued by some of the game’s best players on the PGA TOUR, celebrities from the world of sports and entertainment, golf industry experts, members of the national golf and sports media, bloggers and social media influencers. Ultimately, one winner’s final design will hit golf retailers worldwide immediately following the season finale.

In episode six, the final three designers descend on Lake Tahoe with their next to last designs in hand hoping to convince the masses of celebrity golfers at the American Century Classic that theirs has what it takes to cash in on the $250k grand prize. But there’s a surprise waiting for them when they arrive on the South shore as the Wilson Staff pros want to be sure no one should be too comfortable or cocky when it comes to this completion. At the end of the day, the finalists will find out who’s heading back to Chi-town and who’s heading home. See below for a preview of episode 6 of Driver vs Driver 2:
