F-Max Irons Target Moderate-Speed Swingers

By John Steinbreder of Global Golf Post

F-Max_BlackWith the introduction of its F-Max irons, Cobra Golf is giving those with more moderate swing speeds sticks that are designed to promote greater clubhead speed and, by extension, greater distance. That is done in part through the use of lighter shafts and lighter swing weights.

In addition, company technicians have incorporated a series of improvement technologies in the construction of the F-Max. A lower-profile clubhead moves the center of gravity lower and back for improved launch, while a deeper undercut cavity is made to create more face flex for better ball speeds on off-center hits.

Progressive head construction is employed to bolster distance in the long irons through the use of thinner 17-4 stainless steel and to improve feel and precision in the short ones (8-PW) by using a softer 431 stainless. Cobra technicians also have given these clubs a progressive offset to create higher trajectory and a bit of a draw bias.

F-Max_One_LengthWhat makes this release especially exciting to people at the equipment maker that outfits Rickie Fowler and Bryson DeChambeau is the inclusion of a One-Length version in the new F-Max offering, with those clubs having been engineered, so they match 7-iron weighting through the set.”We are excited to be the first to bring One-Length iron technology to the super game-improvement segment of the market,” says Tom Olsavsky, vice president of R&D for Cobra Golf. “Allowing senior and women players the simplicity of having one swing and one setup for their irons helps make golf a little easier and more fun.”
