The traditional golf shoe is not so traditional anymore. Gone are the Kilties, the stiff leather soles and, of course, the metal spikes.
“Today, golf shoe companies put color and comfort at the top of their list when they design modern golf footwear,” said Worldwide Golf Shops Shoe Buyer LaDawn Zitur. “We are also seeing all-new materials being developed that not only maximize cushioning, but also maximize stability, which is so important to a golfer.”
Even golf shoe stalwart FootJoy has a new shoe concept that features an ultra comfortable, breathable mesh upper and a molded outsole that is a far cry from its classic line of not that long ago. Market newcomer Under Armour is also making a splash this year, propelled by Jordan Spieth. Puma and Rickie Fowler are also seeing if high tops can catch on.
All in all, the future looks bright – and comfortable – for golf shoes going forward.
