FootJoy Unveils New Pro/SL Styles

Article by John Steinbreder of Global Golf Post

FootJoy officials describe the Pro/SL line as the most popular shoe in golf and on the worldwide professional tours. Yet they continue to make improvements to the products in that line, which first were offered to the public just two years ago.

The most recent example of that comes with the release of three new styles – and the promise of three more coming in mid-January right before the 2019 Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla.

The idea behind the Pro/SL always has been to provide the highest levels of comfort, stability, and traction in a shoe, with the comfort coming in part from a soft, waterproof leather upper as well as a soft foam insert that is designed to cradle the foot. These new models have that as well as a midsole/outsole system featuring three distinct layers for perimeter stability and motion control. Traction is enhanced by an outsole with 223 individual points of ground contact.

“Of all the shoes I’ve worn through my career, these are by far the most comfortable,” says tour professional and Ryder Cup stalwart Ian Poulter. “I get a great grip in wet and dry conditions, and with the BOA (lacing) system, I can dial in the fit and comfort to get exactly what I want.”

The styles immediately available include two laced versions, one in white/navy/red and the other white/silver, and the third in the BOA system, in black/silver. As for those coming out early next year, they will feature grey/white and black/black (both laced) and white/indigo (BOA)
