In case you haven’t been paying close attention, Kevin Kisner has been putting together a solid season that suddenly looks a lot better with his Dean & DeLuca Invitational victory at Colonial
He already had finished runner-up twice this year – tying for second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational then losing with partner Scott Brown in a playoff at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans – but he got it done at Colonial for his second Tour victory (to go with six second-place finishes).
The victory will go a long way toward helping Kisner secure a spot on the Presidents Cup team this fall, which would be his first time playing for the United Stated in a team event.
Kisner secured the win with a gritty par at the finishing hole. After missing the 18 green long, Kisner two-putted from the apron behind the green, holing a 5-footer while Spieth, Rahm and O’Hair were waiting to see if they would be in a playoff.
The outcome easily could have flipped. While Kisner faced his 5-foot par putt, Rahm missed a 9-foot birdie putt that would have put him in at 10-under par before Kisner closed out his round.
“I’m happy to win any tournament but especially here because I love this place,” Kisner said.
