The next-generation line of Scotty Cameron Select putters features seven tour-validated modern blade and mid-mallet models, each of which uses what the clubmaker calls four-way technology for the first time.

“Everything I’ve learned from refining and designing Newport-style putters over the last two decades has gone into this 2018 Select line,” said Cameron. “I always strive to raise the bar by incorporating new materials, milling, and manufacturing techniques. And I am at the point with the Select line that I am hyperfocused on the finest details. Tour players pick up on things most people don’t, and those details can make a big difference in how a putter performs. We’ve re-engineered the sole to account for the shaft and grip weight by actually moving metal in minute increments to help the putter align perfectly. I call it four-way sole balancing because we’ve balanced the putter from face to cavity and heel to toe.”

Cameron said he has also worked to enhance the sight components with these flat sticks by refining the contour and thinning the topline appearances, endowing each one with a slightly rounder radius. In addition, he squared up plumbing neck dimensions, edges and angles to provide a cleaner look at address. At the same time, he endeavored to improve sound and feel through the use of more vibration-dampening material that connects the face inlays with the putter bodies.

There are four blades in this release – Select Laguna, Select Newport, Newport 2 and Newport 2.5 – plus a trio of mid-mallet offerings – the Fastback, Squareback and the Select Newport 3 (which is heel-shafted). Each of those putters features advanced stability weighting with two, customizable stainless steel heel-toe weights, stepless steel shafts and black and silver matador mid-size grips.
