TaylorMade Introduces the All-New M5/M6 Irons

From superstar Tour pros to weekend hackers, what does everyone who plays this crazy game want? Distance. And when it comes to distance, the name of the game is speed, which is why TaylorMade continues to seek new and innovative ways to maximize speed and distance while also maintaining a certain degree of accuracy, whether off the tee or from the fairway. With those thoughts in mind, TaylorMade introduces the M5 and M6 irons, which they pronounce are engineered to make everybody faster with Speed Bridge™.

So what exactly is Speed Bridge™? This new technology structure combines and unites each element of iron performance and bridges them together for a faster, straighter iron. By enhancing energy transfer, it produces a fusion of distance, sound and feel – the trifecta of what players look for in an iron.

Expanding on the previous generation M3 irons, the M5 offer the ideal combination of explosive distance and precise control in a compact, player-preferred design. The aforementioned Speed Bridge™ features TaylorMade’s fastest thru-slot Speed Pocket for the very first time in a player’s distance iron. In order to reduce energy loss at impact and create higher ball speeds, the engineers added additional stiffness around the perimeter of the head.

The M5 irons offer a more satisfying sound at impact by reducing low-frequency vibrations, and a solid feel on all shots – even mishits – with their advanced HYBRAR compression damper which excels in filtering away those unwanted face vibrations.

Better players who seek a strong, penetrating ball flight will be pleased to find a lower CG for increased launch angle and ball speed. This is created with a fluted hosel and 360º undercut which helps with ball flight even on low-face impacts.

Golfers will also be pleased to see a leading edge chamfer on the sole design which promotes crisp ball striking with a cleaner turf entry – where clubhead meets the ground.

“In the past, there has always been a trade-off between increasing distance and improving sound and feel,” says Bret Wahl, Vice President of Product Development. “Speed Bridge has redefined iron design to give players exceptional distance AND incredible sound and feel—all in one package…the M5 iron caters to the player who wants their distance with exceptional control.”

The M5 irons include 4 – PW, AW, SW, and come with either True Temper XP100 shafts or Mitsubishi Tensei Orange graphite shafts. The standard grips are Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Orange End Cap.

Possessing many of the same technologies and benefits of the M5 irons, the M6 feature TaylorMade’s fastest Speed Pocket yet for a combination of distance, sound and feel that hasn’t been seen in a game-improvement iron.

Those playing the M6 will find these irons combine a high MOI, high launch, and a massive sweet spot for maximum forgiveness across the entire face of the club.

As Matt Bovee, Senior Manager of Product Creation, says, “At TaylorMade, we have always strived to push the performance envelope to give players maximum distance and forgiveness in our game-improvement irons. Our new Speed Bridge technology allows us to do exactly that while improving sound and feel at the same time.”

The TaylorMade M6 irons include 4 – PW, AW, SW, and LW, with a choice of steel, graphite or graphite women’s shafts available. Stock grips are the Lamkin Dual Feel Reminder.
