With a glaring hole in the junior golf club spectrum, TaylorMade set out to find a solution to the lack of well-made golf club sets designed specifically for junior golfers. And what better way to do that than to team up with one of their youngest, brightest ambassadors, Rory McIlroy. Introducing the TaylorMade Rory Junior Set.
As a matter of fact, it was something Rory had been thinking about for a long time as well. After receiving his first proper set of golf clubs from his father, Gerry, at the age of five, a love and passion for the game was born.
“Growing up, golf was an extremely important part of my life,” said McIlroy. “It allowed me to stay active, enjoy the outdoors and have fun within a competitive sport. I partnered with TaylorMade to design the Rory Junior Set to give kids an easy introduction to golf so they can have the same opportunity I had to fall in love with the sport.”
Not your average, everyday set of junior golf clubs, TaylorMade actually utilized many of the same innovations and technologies found in their other products. They developed and engineered each set to deliver the optimal lengths, lofts and shaft flexes specifically for junior golfers in order to promote proper setup and swing mechanics.
“For me, confidence is the most important thing when I’m standing on the tee,” said McIlroy. “This driver has been specially designed to help young golfers hit it far and straight so they can start building their confidence from the first time they tee it up.”
TaylorMade hasn’t forgotten the importance of the short game, as each set comes with a sand wedge and a putter. The wedge is designed to help make chipping and bunker shots easier, and in doing so, making it fun to practice and learn the art of the short game.
The putter is a center-shafted, mid-mallet designed to create higher stability and easy alignment.
“As much as everyone loves hitting big drives, myself included, the key to this game is chipping and putting,” McIlroy said. “Creating the most appropriate clubs they need to develop a sharp short game are critical for their growth and enjoyment of the game.”
And to make the junior clubs even more special, each set comes with a St. Bernard headcover, just like the one Rory uses on his own driver.
Inspired by Rory and with the quality innovation, technology and craftsmanship of TaylorMade, the Rory Junior Sets help fill a void in the junior golf club market, and are the perfect first set of clubs for any aspiring golfer.
