Forgiveness is a very good thing when it comes to the performance attributes of a fairway wood, and technicians at Callaway Golf say the new Big Bertha Fusion line is all about providing longer and straighter shots, especially on those hit off center.

That is the result of a crown that is composed of what they describe as an ultra-strong triaxial carbon material. It weighs a mere 5.8 grams, which makes it 78 percent lighter than a typical steel crown – and which enables clubmakers to reposition weight to the perimeter and far back parts of the head to bolster center of gravity for higher launch, and moment of inertia for greater forgiveness.

The triaxial carbon material also enables Callaway engineers to create a new head shape that elevates MOI even more as it also helps improve sound and feel. And they utilize the company’s Face Cup technology to ensure the highest possible ball speed and add distance.

The Big Bertha Fusion fairways are available in three models: 3-wood, 5-wood and 7-wood.
