How to find the right golf clubs for your aspiring junior golfer
Parents looking to introduce their children to the game of golf or upgrade their equipment this summer have some excellent options at Worldwide Golf Shops.
According to Scott Delameter, who works at the Roger Dunn Golf Shops store in Indio, two popular choices for junior golfers are PING Prodi G clubs and U.S. Kids Golf clubs, including the EP Tour line. Both brands cater to the various stages of a junior golfer’s development, providing tailored equipment for all ages and skill levels.
“U.S. Kids Golf is perfect for children just starting in the sport, offering a range of sizes and affordable options,” says Delameter. “The brand is dedicated to promoting junior golf through tournaments, national parent/child camps, and player pathway programs, teaching kids everything from swing techniques to golf values.”
PING Prodi G clubs, meanwhile, incorporate tour-proven technology from their adult line into high-quality junior clubs. There’s another benefit as well.
“Considering how fast kids grow, PING offers a one-time rebuild, allowing customers to send the clubs back for re-shafting and re-gripping at no charge,” Delameter said.
Delameter emphasized the importance of club fitting for young players, too.
“It is essential for proper development in a child’s swing. As children grow and take the game more seriously, fitting can elevate their performance, build confidence, and make the game more enjoyable,” he said. “Factors such as weight, length, shaft flex, grip size, and lie angle all vary for junior golfers, just as they do for adults.”
Delameter advises parents to avoid cut-down adult clubs and instead opt for equipment specifically designed for juniors: “Many junior golfers may not fall within the parameters of ‘standard’ equipment, so playing with ill-fitting clubs can make it difficult to hit the ball properly,” he said.
