Odyssey AI-One Putters Review

The Ai One putter and an Ai One Milled putter, both of which are covered in the Ai One putter review.

Odyssey is one of the most well-known putter brands in the industry, and for good reason. They make competitive putters at almost every price point and offer many configurations and materials. As a result, new arrivals to the Odyssey putter lines are closely followed by golfers of all experience levels.

The Ai-One Putter is no different. When these were first seen at tour events, people started speculating exactly what they brought to the table, and when they would be available for consumers. Well, they are here, and we have gotten hands-on experience with them and some information from Odyssey about what the Ai-One putters do differently.

There are two putter lines under the Ai-One umbrella: The Ai-One and the Ai-One Milled. In this Ai-One putters review, we will cover the following for each line:

  • Key Features
  • Pros and Cons
  • Final Verdict

Let’s dive into it and figure out if these putters are worth all of the buzz.

Key Features

The following are the key features of each putter line. These features create the identity of the Ai-One putter, and provide two distinct options for golfers who prefer a different feel at impact:

Ai-One Key Features

Ai-One Insert Contours on the Aluminum backer of the insert designed using Artificial Intelligence are co-molded to a White Hot Urethane striking surface to promote consistent ball speed across the face with the classic White Hot feel that Tour players and amateurs love.
Ai Window A Panlite window, a unique automotive-grade polymer, showcases the unique topology of the back of the insert.
SL 90 SHAFT A lightweight steel shaft with 20-30 grams (depending on the grip) of counterbalance weight in the butt end is an evolution of the Stroke Lab Weighting that Odyssey putters have used previously with overwhelmingly positive reception.
Unique Navy Blue PVD Finish These putters all feature a beautiful navy blue PVD finish that sets them apart with a premium look.
Interchangeable Front Weights 5, 10, 15, and 20-gram removable weights allow you to dial your head weight to your preference.

Ai-One Milled Key Features

Ai-One Milled Insert This milled titanium insert was designed using Artificial Intelligence to create unique contours on the back surface to promote consistent ball speed across the face with the pure milled feel that many golfers prefer.
MILLED STAINLESS STEEL HEADS All the heads in this line are 100% milled for the beauty and precision that golfers appreciate.
SL 90 SHAFT A lightweight steel shaft with 20-30 grams (depending on the grip) of counterbalance weight in the butt end is an evolution of the Stroke Lab Weighting that Odyssey putters have used previously with overwhelmingly positive reception.

The biggest differences between the Ai-One Putters and the other putters in their lineup are their face designs and the new shaft technology.

Both putter lines use new technology behind the face insert, and the Ai-One Milled putters are the only Odyssey putters outside of their highest-end Toulon Design series that leverage a milled metal face. This provides the key element of the Ai-One putters: Forgiveness on off-center hits. This putter lineup is dedicated to providing the most forgiving striking face possible, regardless of what head shape the user prefers. By improving the material behind the insert, Odyssey ensures that even golfers who enjoy blade-style putters will still end up with an impressively forgiving putter.

The new SL 90, 140, and 200 shafts were one of the biggest surprises when these putters were seen on tour, as the Stroke Lab shafts that Odyssey is known for have been so popular. These new shafts look to improve upon the foundation created by the original Stroke Lab shafts.

Pros and Cons

For those interested in buying an Ai-One putter, we will go into some of the pros and cons they should consider before deciding. Here are the pros and cons of both of the Ai-One putter lines:

Ai-One Pros and Cons

Pros Cons
    • ✔ Premium milled face feel
    • ✔ Excellent balance with lighter weight
    • ✔ Wide variety of head and hosel shapes
  • ✘ A slightly harder and lighter head is a touch less forgiving than the Cruiser
  • ✘ Milled titanium face insert looks a bit less attractive than the White Hot insert

Ai-One Putters Review Final Verdict

The Ai-One putters are excellent and do an impressive job of filling a gap in such a library of Odyssey putters so large that most didn’t even realize there was a gap to fill. The presence of milled metal face inserts is a welcome addition, as it looks like more and more brands are seeing the demand for these types of faces at the mid-range price point. The new shafts are incredible, and they show a high level of attention to detail on the part of Odyssey in pairing each putter line with its own shaft that compliments it perfectly.

Finally, the emphasis on forgiveness shows in the Ai-One’s ability to draw a straight line to the pin even when struck a bit off-center. Overall, purchasing an Ai-One putter is money well spent.
