Summer is in full force around the northern hemisphere.  Temperatures are rising, the sun is beating down on your and in some areas, humidity is thick enough to cut with a knife.

It’s important to prepare for it on the course.  You’re out there for 4-6 hours at a time.  Most people aren’t on the beach that long when on vacation.

Here are some items that can help you in the three areas you’ll need to to take charge of: hydration, cooling and protection.

Stay Hydrated

It’s important to hydrate not only during the round, but before and after.  The night before, a couple of bottles of water before going to sleep.  After the round, if the temperature is over 90 degrees, drink at least 1 more bottle of water before you head to the 19th hole for anything alcoholic. Stay Cool

Whatever shade you can find between holes is advisable during the round.  During the historically hot 1964 U.S. Open, Ken Venturi’s doctor suggested to Ken (and he followed doctor’s orders) to walk in the shaded rough as opposed to the sunny fairways as much as possible during the 36 hole final day.  Along with shade, give these products a try.

Stay Protected
