Golfers’ Warehouse Manager Mike Britt Shares His Secrets

Golfers' Warehouse manager Mike Britt

In a career that spans 26-plus years at Golfers’ Warehouse, an entry-level position as a club fitter, and current responsibilities overseeing several retail locations in New England, you could say that Northeast Regional Manager Mike Britt has been with the golf industry through thick and thin. In that time, he’s learned exactly what it takes to deliver satisfied customers and hard-working, happy employees. Here, he shares with us what makes Golfers’ Warehouse a special place to work, what he’s excited about for this upcoming golf season, and what he loves about the game.
•••
What are some of the most significant changes within the retail industry that you have seen in your career? – “I think the biggest and most valuable changes in the golf industry have related to technology – both in individual products and in the way we fit products to golfers.”
•••
With golf season in New England under way, what are some of the new products you are most excited about? – “We’ve had great response to the TaylorMade M1 and M2 clubs, as well as the Ping G Series clubs. Golfers across the board are reporting hitting longer and straighter with these products, and that’s always exciting.”
•••
What sets Golfers’ Warehouse apart? – “Both Worldwide Golf Shops and Golfers’ Warehouse have a great track record of holding onto employees. A lot of our employees stay with us a long time, and our customers appreciate those friendly, familiar faces. Plus, our 90-day, 100-percent satisfaction guarantee just can’t be beat.”
•••
What do you love about the game of golf? – “I love that I can play it my whole life, and I love that it’s a game you can play against people of all levels. There’s not many sports that you can play with a group at the same time regardless of skill level.”
•••
What’s your No. 1 tip for customers looking to get the most bang for their buck when it comes to equipment? – “Consult someone you trust who will give you the right advice for your playing style. If you get a great deal on a product but that product isn’t the right fit, then it doesn’t matter how great of a deal it was.”
•••
What is the most common question you hear from customers? – “People are infatuated with distance. That’s the question I hear all the time: How can I hit farther and straighter?”
•••
What’s one thing about your job that most people don’t know? – “That I’m a part-time psychiatrist!”
•••
Product that can make the most impact in a golfer’s game? – “I think a gap wedge is a great tool.”
