Minjee Lee | KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

Minjee Lee etched her name further into golfing history by clinching her third major title at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship held at Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas. Overcoming challenging windy conditions and a demanding course, Lee finished at 4-under 284, securing a three-shot victory over Auston Kim and Chanettee Wannasaen. This win marks her 11th LPGA title and adds to her previous triumphs at the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2021 Amundi Evian Championship.

A Test of Resilience

The tournament tested the mettle of the world’s best players with brutal heat, strong winds, and long rounds. Lee, starting the final day with a four-stroke lead, navigated a 2-over 74 in the final round, showcasing her resilience with three birdies and five bogeys. Her ability to maintain composure under pressure was key, especially as she fended off challengers on a course described as “almost impossible” by the world No. 1 player.

Equipment That Powered the Victory

Minjee Lee’s success can be attributed not only to her skill but also to her carefully selected Callaway gear. Known for her exceptional ball-striking, she relied on the following equipment to conquer the challenging Fields Ranch East:

  • Driver: Callaway Elyte standard model, featuring Callaway’s advanced Ai 10x face, designed for fast ball speeds and enhanced aerodynamics. This driver helped her average over 260 yards per drive, crucial in the windy conditions.
  • Fairways: Callaway Elyte 3 Wood (3HL 16.5 w/ Fujikura Ventus Red 6R) and Elyte 7 Wood (21 w/ Fujikura Ventus Red 6R)
  • Irons: (4) Srixon MK2, (5-PW) Callaway X-Forged irons, distinguished by a modified sole with more bounce on the lead side, optimizing turf interaction on the firm Frisco surface. These irons contributed to her hitting 63% of the greens in regulation.
  • Wedges: Callaway Opus Wedges (52S, 56C, 60C), providing precision for her approach shots.
  • Putter: The Odyssey Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Broomstick #7 Putter, a recent addition that elevated her putting performance, ranking her fifth in strokes gained putting in 2025.
  • Golf Ball: The Chrome Tour X, part of Callaway’s excelling Chrome Family, which has now contributed to four major victories.

This equipment setup allowed Lee to hit 68% of the fairways and have only 113 putts over the tournament, showcasing a blend of power and precision that sealed her victory.

A Historic Milestone

Lee’s win makes her the third Australian to claim three or more major championships, joining Karrie Webb and Jan Stephenson. The $1.8 million prize from the record-breaking $12 million purse further highlights the significance of this achievement, matching the U.S. Women’s Open’s prize fund.

Minjee Lee’s triumph at the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship is a testament to her skill, strategic equipment choices, and unwavering determination, cementing her status as one of golf’s elite players.
