Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth Wedges

By John Steinbreder of Global Golf Post

According to Ping engineers, the recently released Glide 2.0 wedges boast heads that are made of 8620 carbon steel and employ precision-milled grooves designed to promote softer feel and increased friction as they also improve spin and trajectory. In addition, the clubs feature a so-called Stealth finish, which is designed to yield less glare and make the clubhead appear smaller.

Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth Wedge “The tour player response (to the Glide 2.0 Stealth wedges) has been exceptional,” says John K Solheim, president of Ping, “The players first comment about the Stealth finish, which not only looks cool but also makes the head appear smaller and limits reflections on bright days. Once they feel it and see how much spin and control the grooves provide, the wedges go straight into the bag.”

These clubs are offered in four sole grinds. The all-purpose SS has a mid-bounce sole and is ideal for moderate attack angles and divots, while the WS is a full-sole design intended for golfers with a steep angle of attack. The reduced camber and added width of these puppies also are designed to prevent digging. As for the TS grind, it is based on Ping’s tour-proven half-moon grind and is crafted to facilitate shotmaking and precision from even the most difficult lies. And the heel relief allows players to execute shots with a wide-open clubface more easily. Then, there is the ES (for Eye 2) grind, with a classic dish profile, a refined leading edge, a tapered hosel and an ability to work best in bunkers. Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips come standard with the Glide 2.0s, as do the Ping AWT 2.0 Wedge steel shafts.
