Taylormade’s last line of fairway woods, the Stealth 2s, instantly became some of the most popular and best-performing in the industry. As a result, golfers of all experience levels have anticipated their new woods. The Taylormade Qi10 woods leverage much of the same technology as their predecessor, improving upon it with specific attention to distance and forgiveness.
In this Taylormade Qi10 fairway woods review, we will cover:
Let’s dive into each and determine whether these woods will fill the very large shoes of their previous lineup.
While these Qi10 fairway woods bring some of their own tech to the table, most of the foundation comes from tech already included in the Stealth 2 fairways. To include everything that makes these clubs great, but also make clear what is new and what isn’t, we are going to cover new features in grey and carryover tech from the Stealth 2’s in green:
V Steel Sole Design | Sole design engineered to improve turf interaction and create a gliding feel over the fairway |
Thru-Slot Speed Pocket | A pocket beneath the face improves ball speed on low face hits, ensuring solid flight even with questionable contact |
Twist Face | A twist face with corrective face angles designed to produce straighter shots across the entire face |
Infinity Carbon Crown w/ Lower CG | New Infinity Carbon Crown designed to save weight, which is repurposed to lower the CG and improve launch height |
Larger 200cc Head Size (On the Max Model) | Larger head size provides more space to redistribute weight to improve forgiveness, creating the highest-MOI fairway Taylormade has ever produced |
50g Sliding Weight (On the Tour Model) | Front-to-rear sliding weight allows for flight path control, offering higher launch for longer, wetter, or steeper turf and penetrating launch for shorter, drier, or flatter turf |
Overall, golfers who have experienced the previous fairway wood lineup can expect the Qi10 woods to feel similar to the Stealth 2s but with more forgiveness and distance. The one “cost” to some golfers may be the larger head size.
The Qi10 fairway comes in three models:
Overall, there are not a ton of differences between them all, but the ones that exist define the target market for each.
The versatile, everyman’s fairway wood. The Qi10 fairway brings all of the carryover tech from the Stealth 2 along with the Infinity Crown and the lower CG that comes with it. This makes it a slightly higher-launching, more forgiving fairway than its predecessor, with much of the same benefits in terms of distance and accuracy.
Who is it For? The Qi10 Fairway wood is great for mid-low handicappers who still value forgiveness and distance over supreme workability or adjustability in their fairway woods. |
The Qi10 Max is designed to bring an extra level of forgiveness on top of the lower CG already present in the default model. They do this with a slightly larger 200cc head size, which allows weight to be placed farther from the face, creating the highest-MOI fairway wood Taylormade has ever produced.
Who is it For? The Qi10 Tour Fairway is designed for low-handicappers who prioritize their woods’ ability to adjust and adapt to the variety of weather, turf conditions, and fairway shapes they will encounter. |
