L.A.B. Golf DF3 Sweeper Putter

The DF3 Putter:

Ever since we launched our first putter, Directed Force, golfers have been asking if we could make it less weird. DF3 is that putter. We took a chisel to the original Lie Angle Balanced putter to make DF3 smaller and sleeker while honoring the shape of the putter that started it all for us.

DF3 still does everything golfers love about the original. It stays square by itself. It’s still irrationally forgiving on mishits. But DF3 is going to be a lot more happy making to the vast majority of golfers because it sets up clean and feels and sounds like a dream.

We could say a lot about the shaping of DF3. The way the front and middle of the putter pushes in, for example, makes it look smaller and punches up forgiveness. We could also talk about the merits of the golf ball-sized cutout in the middle of the putter, but most golfers already know that story.

What you do need to know is our cutout has a function. We’re calling it “The Gimme Getter.” Because we all don’t make every 60 footer, we designed The Gimme Getter to pick up your ball on the rare occasion you happen to miss by a few inches. This brilliant innovation doesn’t belong to us, but we put it in there because it’s… well, bad***. A tip of the cap to the person who came up with it!

Sweeper Putters with Lie Angle Balance Technology:

The idea with Sweeper putters is that they allow golfers to move the putter on an upright plane that is more linear and thus consistent. This has nothing to do with anchoring, which is of course against the rules.

Lie Angle Balance makes sweeper putters better because it removes torque from the putter head. Torque isn’t some esoteric variable that only matters for the best golfers in the world. You’ve felt it before. With putters that have torque, you have to grip the putter with more force than you should to keep the head from twisting and turning during the stroke. Some days, golfers apply more pressure than others. And this is why torque can screw up your stroke.

With any of our sweepers (and any of our other putters), you won’t be trying to keep the putter square because there is no putter head torque. All you have to do is let the putter head stay square. And that’s a huge distinction.

Grip our sweepers however you want. You can use any kind of right hand grip. You can drive the stroke with your shoulders or you can use a bottom-hand dominant, pistol-style stroke. These methods have all been used effectively to win big golf tournaments around the world.

No matter how you putt, a Lie Angle Balanced sweepers is going to make putting easier. All you have to do is hold the putter lightly and let it swing. It is programmed to roll the ball exactly where you’re aiming.
