The new King F6 Baffler 4/5 Fairway from Cobra Golf offers something old and something new.
The old comes with the use of the iconic Baffler rail system that is designed to improve turf interaction and make it easier to hit shots from all sorts of lies. Even with a bigger-headed fairway wood. As for the new, this club features two center-of-gravity positions and pair of moveable weights – one tipping the scales at 15 grams and the other at 3 grams – so players can customize their shot trajectories.
“The King F6 Baffler will help golfers glide smoothly out of the turf and get the ball up in the air from anywhere on the golf course,” says Jose Miraflor, senior director of product marketing and creation at Cobra, adding that Rickie Fowler has had a version of the club in his bag this season. “The front of the rails helps provide forgiveness when sliding through the turf and preventing excess digging, while the trailing edge helps smooth out any imperfections with a shot.”
Cobra uses a two-piece metalwood construction in this fairway model, with a forged 455 stainless steel face welded onto a 17-4 hollow body. According to Miraflor, the higher-strength face enables engineers to make that part of the club thinner and lighter, for increased speed and forgiveness. The King F6 Baffler is also slightly shorter in length than a standard 4- or 5-wood, allowing golfers to be a little steeper and more aggressive when needing to get the ball into the air. And players can manipulate loft positions from 16 to 19 degrees.
