When it comes to irons, the days of choosing between distance and feel are fading fast. TaylorMade’s new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons – now available at Worldwide Golf – are designed for players who want both. If gaining a few extra yards, tightening dispersion, or swinging with more confidence is on your radar, the new Qi Max iron family brings together the forgiveness and consistency golfers have come to expect with a modern shape and sound.
Built to Keep Shots On Target

Golfers who play game improvement irons often deal with a common frustration: a tendency to lose shots out to the right (for right-handers), even on solid contact. TaylorMade engineers dug into that issue during development and discovered that many iron faces tend to flex more on the toe at impact, creating unwanted cut spin. Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons address this by optimizing face flex across the entire surface. The result is straighter ball flight, with less of the side spin that sends shots offline.
That extra control doesn’t come at the expense of distance. Both models deliver the ball speed and carry numbers you’d expect from a modern game improvement iron – just with a tighter shot pattern.
Feel Matters More Than Ever

Distance is only part of the equation. Sound and feel have become just as important for players choosing irons today, especially those looking to move up from older models or entry-level sets. TaylorMade took those preferences seriously, refining both the structure and materials inside the head to improve feedback and sound quality.
Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a sound stabilization bar that connects the back of the club to the top line, helping reduce excessive flex and delivering a more solid feel at impact. With the additional use of ECHO Damping material higher in the face, vibrations are reduced, leading to a quieter, cleaner feel that doesn’t compromise performance.
Two Shapes, Two Approaches

The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer two distinct shapes aimed at different types of golfers. Qi Max irons are made for players who want a compact look with reduced offset and thinner top lines, but still need help with forgiveness and launch. The heads are slightly smaller than previous generations, giving them a more aspirational, player-preferred appearance while retaining the speed and forgiveness needed to perform.
Qi Max HL irons, on the other hand, take a different route. With slightly longer blade lengths, taller faces, and thicker toplines, they’re designed for players who benefit from more visual and structural forgiveness. Paired with lighter overall construction, the irons are especially well suited to players with moderate swing speeds who want help getting the ball up in the air and holding the green.
Launch, Carry, and Control

A key feature in both models is the FLTD CG design, which places the center of gravity lower in the long irons to promote high launch and carry distance, and gradually raises it through the shorter irons for more control and tighter dispersion into the green. It’s a subtle but important detail that gives the irons a smoother transition through the set.
For added consistency, the 4- through 8-irons in the Qi Max and the 5- through 8-irons in the Qi Max HL both incorporate TaylorMade’s familiar Speed Pocket technology. This helps maintain ball speed on low-face strikes – one of the most common miss-hits for recreational golfers.
Options for Different Swings

What separates the two models most clearly is loft and weighting. Qi Max HL irons feature lofts that are three degrees weaker than those in the Qi Max. That’s intentional – stronger lofts can limit launch for players with slower swing speeds. By adjusting the loft and making the entire build lighter, Qi Max HL helps players generate higher launch and longer carry, without sacrificing the ability to stop the ball on the green.
Available Now at Worldwide Golf
If you’re ready to upgrade your iron game, the TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL families are now available at Worldwide Golf.
